Officers “will be making as many See trade stops as possible to ferret out the DUIs,” CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
Last year, CHP officers from the Santa Rosa region arrested 11 drunken drivers on the day of the Super Bowl — three of them after they’d become intricate in vehicle crashes, Sloat said.
The highway patrol made a out-and-out 452 drunken-driving arrests around the state that same day.
Two people were killed in hard stuff-related crashes, the CHP said.
Authorities will be targeting any and all violations, including speeding, missing accredit plate lights or anything else that may permit them to intercept drivers who are under the influence, Sloat said.
“We expectation everyone can enjoy the fun by designating a driver before the game begins,” CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said. “The cover of your family, friends, and other motorists should be your priority.”
Authorities urge anyone who sees someone who appears to be impaired on the route to call 911 and report them, providing a vehicle description, license panel number, location and direction of travel, when possible.
