Question: Today I bought an aquarium starter kit 5 gal Walmart (AQUA know-how). It comes with a power filter (Tetra Whisper Power Filter 5-15 gal). Should I get an air pump for my kit? In fact, what is the purpose of an air pump?
Answer: As wide as your filter is causing the water pump air is not necessary.
Pumps and air bubbles are much Bonny decorative, this is a reservoir of oxygenated surface movement, and not just the bubbles.

A talented filter has two parts. One containing carbon and another slightly porus core. The carbon will keep the drench disentangled and the grate / sponge / will take captive larger particles. What square footage tank do you have? For my 14 gallon tank I use an aquaclear 5-15 gallon filter. It is at the end of the day temperate and keeps my tank remarkably sterile. The filter has a filter cartridge slit and a notch for a feeling that bacteria grows on. It also provides three types of filteration: reflex, biological, and chemical.
