The Pierce Gallery presents “Sense of Arrange,” the photographs and paintings of Foto Friends: Astrid Reischwitz, Linda Wolk and Ann Boese, Joan Allen, Sue D’Arcy Fuller, Lynda Huston, Sue Kim Lucchini, and Wendy Oltsik.
Foto Friends is a gang of eight women who met in photography classes at the DeCordova Museum School in Lincoln. Seven were there to distend their camera skills in capturing and expressing their world with direct images. The eighth fellow, a watercolorist, enrolled to be able to better use a camera to record her belief of the world so she could recreate it with paint and paper in her studio. When the formal classes were over the women started conjunction regularly to continue learning from each other.
Their exhibit demonstrates how differently each fellow sees the world, and how they record it in photographs and paint. The work encourages others to look at their magic in different ways and ask themselves how they would record what they see and feel.
