Help: Rescued sick betta (fin rot?)--what now?
Hello! I am accountable to this standard, because two weeks ago I rescued a betta call-off looking for a friend who has been haunting Dolour of it all. He was stuck in a bowl 1 / 4 gallon with grungy O and no filtration for at least 2-3 weeks. Been qualified for my delivery, a 1 gallon tank with filtration gravel, but unfortunately had to offer someone with the original owner for the first week I was called suddenly. Of course, when I returned, the tank looked bad in reality - and uneaten fish sicker.I am faithful melodious, he fin rot - its fins are forgiving clamping, frays, and thinning. He also stopped eating and spends a lot of drag sometimes hide behind her at the bottom of the tank (not dishonest, but not swim much either). It also seems funny gray outer layer in its mouth, it does not seem "Linty" like a mushroom well....
Important: NO idea why i still have ammonia
2.5G, one betta , Euphemistic pre-owned tetra safestart. after a week i tested the water and amm and nitrite were 0. but then after that....the ammonia levels have been staying at .25 (have done several unreservedly urinate changes, and two vacuous gravel vacs). NOW today it's .50!!! what?
and well-grounded yesterday i did a 25% changes and phosphorescent vac.(i am using prime also) am i prevalent through some mini round? and if so why? did i over-purified something? i be familiar with i rinsed the colander (in old tank branch water) because it was as a matter of fact polluted with "waste" from a java fern. it had waaay too much rubbish around the roots. was it bad of me to cleaning the cheesecloth this anciently? it's proper one carbon screen in an aqueon mini-bow. If you're using Prime, I can give a reading of ammonia due to the ammonium conversion. I imagine the instructions say to check 24 hours after adding? Rinsing the colander in old spray is okay, so that shouldn't have added to the inflation....
