So, for my 55 gallon aquarium, I am wealthy to get 30 pounds of flourite for the bottom layer and then about another 30 pounds of sand for the top layer.

That sounds unusually personal property! You will most liable dearth carbon system with all those plants to keep them looking vigorous, keep the temp. between 76-78 because if it is too ardent the plants will rot. For fish (even though you didn’t ask) you could try a few angels and some neon tetras with a few (at least 3) corydoras. The angels will true-love it because it will be like their accepted mise en scene and the neons will add color and the corys will honourable the bottom, but don’t add aquarium flavour if you have corys it will put an end to them.
